I had to go back to work Monday. I dreaded it... I was going to have to get up even earlier to make sure I got my warm lemon water and my smoothie ready. I'm not a morning person and I'm beginning to think that my difficulty getting out of bed each morning directly correlated to my blood sugar being so high; I was probably in a diabetic coma and just thought I was lazy! During the week, I'm not a breakfast eater. Breakfast would simply consist of coffee when I got to work, or, on Tuesdays, if the Men's Prayer Breakfast guys had leftovers, I might be lucky enough to have a sausage patty, gravy and/or a biscuit. Weekends were different; that's when I'd cook bacon, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, quiche, breakfast pockets or whatever else I wanted!
I still had my headache, I still wasn't feeling too good, but I made it through the day. After work, I ran a few errands then went home and immediately laid down on the couch; I was so tired. I needed to rest. But first, I changed into my workout clothes because I was supposed to start my Small Group Personal Training that night. My friend Lynn had already signed up (she's got a wedding coming up this fall--mother of the groom!). I text my friend Susan and invited her to join me. Susan had been working out with a trainer, but her trainer recently moved away, so I thought Susan might enjoy this. Besides, if she was there, that's just more support for me! Nickey and I had talked about her joining the group also, but we are on a very tight budget. We decided, though, that her being there with me and getting healthy alongside me were more important than using that money on other "entertainment".
Susan came to the house and rode with Nickey and me. Lynn met us there. I already had a great support system. Cecelia was also there; I had met her back in January during my two boot camp classes. We did all kinds of stuff, both on our own and with a partner. Michelle was my partner, bless her heart! She's a really sweet girl.
Push up negatives, planks, crunches, burpees, wall sits, rubber bands, medicine balls... they were all big players in our activities during SGPT. Abby doesn't like to do the same workout twice, so we'll be doing totally different things each time. I really enjoyed this class and everyone in it. I may be a little sore, but I'm looking forward to next Monday night!
Check us out passing the medicine ball to our neighbors and back while in a wall sit. Obviously, I need to work on my form!
